Today we will be reviewing the Alpinestars Celer Leather Jacket. Whether you’re looking at purchasing it for yourself, or as a gift. It is a rock solid option that must be discussed.

We all know Alpinestars for the robust amount of quality jackets they offer. The vast majority coming in some sort of textile material.

For many of us, leather is a thing of the past. Asit doesn’t offer the versatility of a textile jacket.

The Alpinestars Celer is looking to change that with increased airflow and ventilation, similar to that of its textile counterpart.

I’ve had my fair share of Alpinestars motorbike jackets over the years and recently got my hands on the clean looking celer jacket.

Before getting into the advantages of this leather riding companion, take a look at all the features it has to offer.

  • 1.3 mm durable leather construction
  • CE certified protection built into the elbow and shoulders
  • Snap button system for add-on back protector
  • Thermal mesh lining is removable
  • Fantastic airflow throughout the jacket
  • Waterproof
  • Well thought out zipper construction for adding Alpinestars motorcycle pants
  • Perforated back hump, which provides the rider with extra ventilation
  • Internal wallet pocket, hand warming pocket with user-friendly zipper construction
  • TPU sliders for top-notch abrasion resistance
  • Hook loop waist adjustment for the most comfortable fit
  • Stretch inserts on the sleeves which are useful for quick movement

Alpinestars Dynamic Flow Control: The Airflow Is Unrivaled

I’m not the biggest fan of leather jackets these days, mainly because they are too damn hot.

Right, when I put this jacket on it felt similar to other leather riding jackets. As it was a bit constraining but did have a somewhat stretchy feel to it.

At first, I thought it was just going to be another expensive option from Alpinestars.

Trying to gauge my wallet for a quality brand name.

That was until I actually hopped on my bike and went for a ride.

The first thing you will notice about the Alpinestars celer motorcycle jacket (besides the look of it) is the insanely good ventilation it offers.

Maybe it’s because every leather jacket I’ve owned in the past has had next to no ventilation, but this one just felt different.

Granted, it’s not the same type of airflow you’ll get from a summer mesh motorcycle jacket, but for a leather jacket, it’s pretty solid.

Alpinestars was able to provide airflow throughout the jacket. This is because of the vent in the back, perforation in the chest, vents around the collarbone area, and stretch panels along the forearms and shoulders.

Not Your Traditional Leather Motorcycle Jacket

This Alpinestars motorbike jacket is a leather jacket, that gives you some of the hot weather benefits offered by textile.

The key to that is the soft mesh lining.

An issue many of us riders have is the lining of our riding jacket chafing against our neck. No one can tell me that they haven’t faced this issue before.

Put on a brand new jacket in the store, think it’s the best thing in the world…

Only to take it out for a ride and realize you’ll have to wear a turtleneck every day to keep it from scraping your neck.

The waterproof material is handy. Especially if you tend to ride in colder climates where a storm may arise at any moment.

This jacket also works great for summer riding, as the mesh lining is easily removable.

Padding For Days

We all know the main reason a motorcycle jacket exists, and that is to protect the rider from anything the terrain may throw your way.

The Alpinestars Celer Leather Jacketdoesn’t skimp on protection.

It offers really comfortable padding along the chest, as well as the back. The benefit to this jacket being made with mesh material is the lightweight comfortable feel.

Plus the material is constructed with 1.3 mm leather with an ultra-durable design.

Plenty of Storage

We can’t forget about the importance of being able to take all your belongings with you, I mean who want’s to carry a backpack everytime they ride.

Right off the bat, I noticed the two side pockets, which of course are there for keeping your hands warm in cold weather.

They have a nice feel to them and seemed to be made with quality in mind. As the last thing I want is for those two pockets to turn into two big holes. (This happened to me in the past)

There is also a waterproof interior wallet pocket located near the chest. I don’t know about you, but I like to carry a little bit of cash on me. What I don’t like, is it getting soaked in the rain.

My favorite aspect in regards to the pockets is that there are two built into the mesh lining of the jacket. The reason it’s so nice is that they can also be removed, which takes away a chunk of the weight of the jacket.

Have no fear, the Alpinestars Celer is here!

With all the awesome aspects of the Alpinestars Celer Leather Motorcycle Jacket, there are a couple things that aren’t so great.

No back protector built-in

The lack of a back protector is a bit annoying, considering the cost of this Alpinestars motorbike jacket.

Luckily there are plenty of options out there which are made specifically for this jacket.

Jacket is on the heavy side

What can you really expect with a leather jacket though? If you’re looking for a lightweight motorcycle jacket, then of course Mesh is the way to go.

No one ever said they choose to wear a leather jacket because of the weight, but it’s still something to keep in mind.

Tight fit

The fit on the Alpinestars Celer Leather Motorcycle Jacket is pretty tight. Many riders that choose to wear leather like to slack on the fit, but this one was designed with more of a body hugging type fit.

So if you like it loose, this isn’t a good option for you.

Final Verdict

For anyone that consistently reads our motorcycle jacket reviews, you know that leather is not my favorite option when it comes to riding jackets.

Though, I really have to give it to Alpinestars on this one.

They did a great job putting together a leather motorbike jacket that provides the rider with optimal ventilation, a clean look, and top of the line protection.

Not to mention a removable mesh liner, which definitely can come in handy.

You really can’t go wrong choosing the Alpinestars Celer Leather Jacket as your one an only all-weather motorcycle jacket.
